MY 12 WEEK BODY TRANSFORMATION
I’m Rachel, member of Crossfit gym Priority 6, challenging myself to new extremes and as far from my ‘comfort zone’ as possible. I’ve signed up to The OC Method’s 12 week Body Composition, this blog will keep track of progress, as well as a reference tool for training, nutrition, photos, measurements, session plans and so forth. I can’t wait to find out how far I can push myself, physically and mentally, hopefully smashing a few psychological barriers in the process.

DAY 90 - FINAL DAY
Today was weight check in, measurements, final photos and comparing all the data. My final weight for week 12 is 70.2 kg as opposed to the 78.6kg that I was on week 1, I've also gone from just over 20% body fat to 11.5% - closing in fast on that 10% goal :-) As a team we lost 67.8kg in total which is absolutely epic, the team photo later this week is quite possibly going to involve someone holding a lifting bar totalling that weight we lost just to see what it looks like. Coach OC had us doing a little activity for fun this evening of loading up the prowler with 67.8kg and we had to relay push the prowler two lengths each for 6.78 minutes - was certainly an amusing way to end the 12 weeks together. It was really nice just to spend time chatting and sharing with everyone this evening, all in all a very emotional evening all round. What an amazing journey and fantastic group of people, I think I might have even made some friends in the process :-) Coach OC has asked us to write testimonials, so I will be writing and posting mine up on here in the next few days along with the team photo.

DAY 90 - BOBBLEHAT-CREW GIFTS
Being the creative and crafty addict I am, I couldn't resist making everyone a gift for the end of the body composition / final weight and check out tomorrow. So here are a few photos of my felting and wood burning project so everyone has a little keep sake of the last 12 weeks we've experienced together. Most of Sunday and Monday disappeared in to making all this, I can't seem to resist giving myself so much to do that it has me working right up until the final second - but really pleased that I got everything I wanted to make done in time. All bobblehatcrew goodies were happily wrapped and taken along to training on Monday evening to give to everyone. I did feel a bit nervous that hand made gifts might not go down too well to people I've not known that long - but I was overwhelmed by how appreciative and thankful people were and I had some especially lovely messages sent to me later in the evening :-)

DAY 88 - THE PHOTOSHOOT FINALE
I decided to challenge myself to the absolute extreme, and after my Olympic lifting class and cardio session had a photo shoot wearing my newly acquired minimal training clothes, along with fellow very awesome bodycomper and bearded hero Paul (who said to me "I'll do it if you do"). I took the initiative to sort this out in the end, as when I suggested it to the rest of the bodycomp team, there was a whistling silence. So determined to challenge myself I went ahead with it. I won't lie... it was a terrifying experience, I had a nightmare the night before about it and was wide awake at 5am with my heart racing until I could leave for my 8am lifting class. I was relieved Paul was there with me because we really supported each other, and in the end we were both able to have fun with it together, rather than feel like being lined up in front of a firing squad. Photos will be posted after the editing process - I've had a few samples to look at so far (couple included below - copyright of Helen Carter Photography) and of course my negative mind zoned in on any body parts that I thought looked bad or squashy in any way whatsoever, especially my stomach. It was very hard for me not to panic that every photo would have a terrible stomach in it and somehow it had actually got bigger not smaller, but looking at myself is exceptionally challenging at the best of times. Therefore I'm doing my best to wait until I see the full selection and not let myself catastrophise that I'll look terrible in all the photos, our photographer the fantastic Helen took several hundred photos so I'd like to hope even my critical mind will be able to think I look okay in one of them. Most importantly though, me and Paul both really smashed through our barriers together, as neither of us felt at all confident in having a photo shoot and I really felt connected to him as a result of us making it through all the photos and having a laugh at the same time. There might even be some photos of me smiling and I'm looking forward to seeing the photos of us together. All in all - really positive result and another challenge taken head on, getting out of that comfort zone is really where the change in ourselves and optimum results seem to live.
